InvestUMC Announces Strategic Enhancements

Nashville, TN - The Board of Directors of The United Methodist Church Foundation (d.b.a. InvestUMC) has approved a series of strategic updates designed to strengthen InvestUMC’s investment platform, improve long-term performance evaluation, and better serve United Methodist ministries, churches, conferences, and affiliated organizations.
The approved changes include enhancements to InvestUMC’s family of funds, updates to investment benchmarks, and revisions to individual fund offerings. These actions reflect the Board’s ongoing commitment to responsible stewardship, transparency, and the evolving needs of investors across the connection.
“These changes represent an important step forward for InvestUMC,” said Rev. Sharon L. Williams, Board Chair of InvestUMC. “Our Board has spent significant time evaluating the current investment environment, reviewing industry best practices, and considering how we can best position our ministry for long-term sustainability and growth while remaining aligned with the values and mission of The United Methodist Church.”
The updated benchmark structure is intended to provide clearer performance measurement and more meaningful comparisons across asset classes and investment strategies. In addition, the revised family of funds framework is designed to create a more streamlined and accessible investment experience for participating organizations.
The Board also approved updates to several investment funds to better align portfolio objectives, risk profiles, and long-term return expectations with the needs of churches, ministries, endowments, and institutional investors.
Throughout this process, InvestUMC has remained focused on balancing prudent financial management with the denomination’s broader commitment to faithful stewardship and ministry impact.
